So we have a wicked cute apartment (apahtmehnt?) here in Alameda, and I really can’t wait for my couch to come so I can get totally settled and post pictures. I’m still looking for artwork for my bedroom walls, either one large piece or several smallish ones. I got some really great prints on Etsy for [...] I’m getting into the Christmas Spirit right now. Maggie Mason has been posting a daily advent calendar via her always-charimg Twitter feed with a craft or otherwise charming bit of Christmastide cheer (my favorite thus far has been this Band Aid video for the “Do They Know it’s Christmas?” because the 1980s were so without irony [...] I have had a wicked sweet tooth lately, which is pretty unlike me. Normally, I am down with the salty snacks, but lately…I think it all started when that leftover Halloween candy went on sale at CVS. I have eaten more Butterfingers in the last 3 weeks than I really like to admit. I was poking around [...] Brian and I haven’t had TV for over a year now. We have a television set, which is hooked up to a DVD player, but we don’t have a coaxial cable so we can’t even watch the networks. This is fine, we get the Daily Show/Colbert/The Office/30 Rock through Hulu, and we don’t really watch much [...] Andrew Bird has to be one of my favorite musicians right now. Eloquent, with whistling and violin, he’s got both catchy and dark music that can be mildly subversive at times. I’m a big fan of Amchair Apocrypha and The Mysterious Production of Eggs. Andrew Bird also looks like if Luke Wilson was cast as Tom [...] This photograph slays me. Big Mang and [...] I can remember being 3 or 4, becoming completely obsessed with Yellow Submarine. My dad, ever the musical maverick had a newfangled CD player and a few of these round mirrored thingies that i was NOT allowed to touch. I ditched my Baby Beluga tape soon after, and fell irreversibly in love with John Lennon. I [...] This past Thanksgiving, one of Brian’s cousins told me my third chakra might be a little out of whack. I tended to agree, after I googled what a third chakra was. Apparently, it’s an emotional center, and with a blocked solar plexus (where the chakra is located, think splenic area, between the left and right bottommost [...] I like music. I’m not a constant iPod-wearer or compulsive album-buyer, but I like music and I like it even more live. Concerts have played a pretty integral role in my relationship with Brian, and going to them has always been something I enjoy. We tend to go to one or so a month, more in [...] I bought a pair of skinny jeans last night. I was peer pressured by the millions of girls (and boys, now, weird) that now wear them. I saw a pair of black ones at the Gap and I thought, yeah, those might be all right. They were. They’re black denim, with sort of riding pants-esque seams [...] |
