Recent Events, part 2.

So after about 6 months of not taking personal or vacation days, I decided to choose last week to do so. It was the week after which I had 3 days off for the wake and funeral, so, yes, I had 5 days off in 10 days of work. Shush, you.

I went up to the beach with the Bergerons to crash their vacation. The week the tropical storms started. The ones that made it up here. The ones wreaking havoc on the Downeast Maine coast, causing the Coast Guards of ME some gray hairs…WavesThis particualr beach, Moody Beach, has a tide problem. High tide comes all the way up to the sea wall there, and if high tide is during the day, well, the beach just GOES AWAY. Tim, Brian and I went down to the water at something like 11:oo am, and high tide was at 2 or 3. By 11:45, the waterline had pushed us back to the sea wall and waves were threatening to sweep away everything and everyone in it’s path. That’s just what it did. When it was still what we thought was a safe distance away, a swell came and crushed me and Brian, frollicking in a carefree manner in the waves and swept away my treasured Ray Bans, my brand new camera, my copy of the Twilight sequel (oops, I just said that out loud?), my FAVORITE Havaianas, the Brazillian color/flag ones, a bunch of towels and sand chairs and sunblock and stuff stuff stuff. And, man, kudos to those Bergeron fellas for SAVING EVERY BIT OF IT.

DSCN1185It was rough. Seriously rough. Like, Glad I Live Somewhat Inland rough. Because these people? They don’t. And mops aren’t made big enough to manage the mess I’m sure this caused:

Eventually things calmed down in time for me to head back to work and life and stuff. But I got some new tarot cards, which I’ll probably be writing about soon, because boy are they neat.

Later, Internet.
