What a bizarre feeling to have touched everything I own in the last week or so. I really hope this is the last time I have to move for a little while. I’ve finally been able to separate my feelings about moving clear across the country from the dread I feel about packing up. Turns out [...] Lately, when I’ve been dropping the “I’m moving to San Francisco in 10 days” bomb on people, the reactions vary only slightly. Usually they ask if I found a job there, or if we have family there, or what. The truth is that Brian and I just like it there. It’s nothing personal, Boston, but you got [...] Is a good [...] We’re barely going above freezing here in Boston over the next 10 or so days, with wind chills in the single digits. I’m pining for the rainy 40′s that Colleen-in-CA has been warning me about. New England, you are making this departure all too easy [...] I’m getting into the Christmas Spirit right now. Maggie Mason has been posting a daily advent calendar via her always-charimg Twitter feed with a craft or otherwise charming bit of Christmastide cheer (my favorite thus far has been this Band Aid video for the “Do They Know it’s Christmas?” because the 1980s were so without irony [...] So. We’re a rollicking 2 1/2 weeks away from becoming residents of the Golden State. New England is choosing to mark the occasion by walloping the suburbs with 6 inches of snow, and Boston with street-flooding chunky rain. Yes, the rain is chunky. Its not quite as graceful and pelting as sleet, not as gumball machine-y [...] Reading the 4th installment of the Twilight Saga, New Moon. The first book was all right, the second one was terrible, the third one was actually good and now the author really seems to be hitting her stride. Too bad it’s over after this, I’m kind of enjoying them now. Can I go here, since the final [...] So guys. Today is the 3 week mark, and I can give you all some deets (ew, sounding California already) about the move. We’re moving to the Bay Area, most likley Berkeley, but not ruling out San Francisco ($$$$!) or Oakland (is there a wingding that suggests gunshot wounds and copious marijuana?) on December 27, 2009. In case you all didn’t know, Brian and I are packing up our stuff and moving to San Francisco on December 27th. I just put my notice in to work, and can officially announce it to the Internet. Oh my GOD.
The last year has gone by really, really quickly, whittled down [...] One of my favorite evening activities is to crawl into bed in my totally ironic Ed Hardy sweatpants (omg I forgot to post pictures, they are truly heinous) (also purchased at a Marshall’s for $15, as opposed to the $120 they were originally listed for. Even ugly bargains make me scream with joy) and reading archived [...] |
