Been a busy week here at the BOTRG headquarters. We’ve hit another busy spurt at work, which is kind of like getting flicked by a wet towel in the locker room. One minute you’re innocently applying your Lady Speed Stick, and when you’re not looking, 11 editors descend upon your inbox, raising welts and raising hell. John [...] I don’t think I have so hotly anticipated the release of any media as John Irving’s new novel. It’s been like, 6 years. That’s a really long time to wait, either for a novel or an engagement ring. BRIAN. No seriously though. I love John Irving’s novels. I feel kind of like a bad English major/Russian history [...] Moments ago, I faced a social-networking existential crisis. I was about to update my Twitter, like I usually do several times a day, to alert the world that I was lint-brushing the cat fur out of my fleece jacket and really having a go of it. To the point where PETA might point a finger or [...] Dear BBC, It’s pretty safe to say that your home nation, the United Kingdom, Great Britain, the British Empire, whatever you prefer to call yourselves these days, developed the English language that we know and love. Despite your superfluous “u”s in various words, and your flats, lifts and jumpers, I can give credit where credit is due. [...] Spent Saturday in central NH photographing fall foliage with my camera set to the lowest resolution possible. Monday [...] Brian and I haven’t had TV for over a year now. We have a television set, which is hooked up to a DVD player, but we don’t have a coaxial cable so we can’t even watch the networks. This is fine, we get the Daily Show/Colbert/The Office/30 Rock through Hulu, and we don’t really watch much [...] In the last few months, I’ve started to lay the foundation of a new life for myself. Some of you are in the know, some of you aren’t. I haven’t made a formal announcement yet for a few reasons, but there’s one coming soon (not engaged, not pregnant, so let’s not go down that path).
