There is something so arresting about the sunlight in Boston in July. It usually rains quite a bit here in May and June, so when the sun pokes through and the puddles dry up, the brightness is almost unbearable. The sun never really bothered me as a kid: I have pretty squinty eyes so I could [...] Today is terrible. Shaw’s did not have the pickles I wanted, there were no fun new items at the consignment shops I browse, there was some fruitcake burritomaker who put CUCUMBERS in my CAESAR WRAP at Boloco. Yes, cucumbers, yes, really. The nerve. Worse yet, I come back from lunch, and IT’S SOMEONE’S BIRTHDAY! But I am [...] For the first time in six years, I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing on September first. It’s a special little thrill that I hide away in a corner of my soul, that special date on which I have no plans, as of yet.
